What Lucy said
I ride a bike taxi at a local nursing home once a week and today I was blown away by my passenger, Lucy (name changed to protect privacy).
I was whining to Lucy that I wasn’t sure if I should attend the 75 mile bike ride I am invited to tomorrow because I am not in great shape. Lucy said, “Maybe, think of it as an adventure. You know as you get older there are things you would like to do but you can’t anymore. But you can look back on the memories.”
So I am going on the ride, you better believe it.
Later she said, “It is so beautiful out here. I think everyone should pause and appreciate the beauty around them… like you should appreciate the beauty in your wife.” Boom!
I told her, “I do that sometimes, I look at Nikole and think ‘Take a second to appreciate how cute your wife is, Ed.'”
She said, “I think that is wise.” No, you’re the wise one, Lucy!
Lucy is my favorite — so positive. I told her, “Lucy, you should be president. I’m serious. People need to hear your wisdom.” But she declined to accept my nomination.
